You are beautiful and brilliant. I want to create a world where women see that in themselves.
What a year 2024 has been. I took the plunge and started my own business! I can’t tell you how much I have learnt this year. About myself. About what is important in life. About self-care and self-love. About how to run a business. About money mindset. It’s been enlightening!
As I envisioned, the path has been winding, it’s had uphill struggles and it’s taken unexpected turns. I would expect nothing less when treading the path less travelled.
Having more than one business is tricky, finding the balance is hard. Putting more time and energy into supply work over the last couple of months meant less time for coaching. Now is the time to pour that energy back into my true passion, coaching.
I have had a lot of time to reflect over the Christmas period about who I want to serve as a coach. I have listened to and had conversations with so many women who feel stuck in some part of their life. Something happens around the age of 40 and things start to change. There’s an energy shift. You’re often in ‘the sandwich’ in life – children and dependents to worry about at one side, parents and elderly relatives to worry about on the other. You have friends that you want to see, relationships that you want to maintain. You have a full time job and a house to run. You might be experiencing health issues that haven’t occurred before, or be supporting others who are going through ill health. You are at a stage where you realise, more than ever, that you need to prioritise yourself too – become more mindful, use somatic practices, exercise, improve your diet. You know that there’s changes you need to make but you don’t know where to start. So you don’t. You’re stuck in the ways you have always done things. You make a promise to yourself that this year will be different. You join a gym. You start a new diet. You try that new exercise class around the corner. You promise yourself that you will make more time for friends. You make a resolution to start a new skill so that you can add another string to your bow. You google what you can train in so that you can start a new career. You are filled with good intention on the actions you are going to take to improve your life. But then your child gets sick the first week back at work. Your relative has a fall and needs more care than usual. There’s three deadlines at work that you just need to make before you can create time for yourself. Then all of a sudden, a year has gone by and nothing has changed!
Life happens. But what I’ve discovered is that working on your mindset and practicing mindfulness daily means that you embrace life so much better. That when you choose to accept that you are the creator of your own life, that you have control over how you embrace day-to-day life, when you set those goals for what you want your life to be, you actually make it happen. You’re not stuck. You just need to take the first step. You are beautiful and brilliant. I want to create a world where women see that in themselves. So I’d better start taking action!
